How is the gift delivered?
However you like. After purchase you can download the voucher as a printable PDF certificate to give in person, or have Vellu email it to the recipient — immediately or on a scheduled date such as a birthday.
How long is the voucher valid?
An unredeemed voucher is valid for 24 months from purchase. Once the recipient redeems it, the credits stay valid for 24 months, and the clock resets with any later top-up.
What can the recipient make with it?
Credits power every AI step in Vellu — transcription, chapter generation, rewrites, proofreading, and images. Story Starter is enough to get going or write a short book. The Keepsake and The Legacy Edition are book bundles: they add a voucher for a printed copy — a softcover with The Keepsake, a hardcover (plus credits for polishing and extra images) with The Legacy Edition — so the recipient ends up with a real book in hand. The recipient can also include their own photographs — adding them costs no credits.
Does the recipient need an account?
Yes — a free one. The recipient opens the gift link, creates a free Vellu account (or signs in), and the credits land instantly, ready to start their book.
Can I make the book for them — or with them?
Yes — and many people do. Sit down together over coffee: you run the app and press record, they just talk. The book can also be made entirely on the storyteller's behalf — record their stories, build the chapters, and order the finished book, even as a surprise. The stories are theirs; the technology can be handled by anyone close to them.
Do I need an account to buy a gift?
Only for the purchase itself — you enter your email and confirm a short code, with no separate sign-up. That gives you your own account with 100 free credits, so you can try Vellu yourself if you like — or just close the account afterwards. The gift works either way.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — an unredeemed voucher can be cancelled for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, in line with the EU right of withdrawal. Once redeemed, a voucher is a delivered digital service and can't be refunded.
